MY PROFILE
About RayJoyArt
Since beginning my journey as a young artist I have explored working in multiple mediums. With exhibitions in Oxford, London and Japan and curated projects in NYC, Japan and the UK.
I have always been fascinated both with colour and the subtle effects of the interplay of light on natural surroundings. The philosopher Maurice Merleau Ponty wrote about the way that we become separated from our childlike interdependence and integrated consciousness with the outside world.

“We must therefore rediscover, after the natural world, the social world, not as an object or sum of objects, but as a permanent field or dimension of existence.”
― Maurice Merleau-Ponty, Phenomenology of Perception (Routledge Classics)

My works seeks to capture both poetic fleeting moments, the sun on water, a shadow, or celebrate the visceral nature of paint, of charcoal, of paper. Not to transcend the lived experience but to celebrate it. Conversely I have written about BioArt and the effects of technology on the human brain. With a Post Graduate focus in both Art Therapy and Global Trauma, I have spent the last 7 years learning about the neuroscientific effects of both creativity and technology. My recent work explores a questioning, liminal space in this tension of the created and creator co-exist.
